Group provides supplies, supports relief efforts
THE Tappoo Group of Companies is ready to put together additional recovery support aside from food supplies.
A statement from the company yesterday said two trucks full of relief supplies were provided to support Government’s efforts.
Company CEO Madhu Tappoo said the pictures of Fijians suffering the unfortunate fate was hard to bear.
“We are deeply saddened at the loss of loved ones and the widespread devastation caused by Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston and we pledge that Tappoo will do our best to help the relief efforts,” he said.
Mr Tappoo said the initial packages were to help the immediate basic needs of the affected communities.
The Tappoo relief supplies contributed to the Commissioner Western’s office included bottled water and beverage packages.
Mr Tappoo commended the Government, civil society groups, the corporate sector, and the international communities for the sterling effort in co-ordinating and distributing the much-needed help.
“All Fiji citizens who have reached out in whatever way, small or large, to help our men, women and children affected must be commended for their show of true patriotism,” Mr Tappoo said.
“It is heart-wrenching to learn that we have lost 42 lives already, and even more devastating to hear reports that the toll could rise.”
Mr Tappoo said they wished affected communities a speedy recovery.
“Our management and staff reassure that we are committed to offering a helping hand.”
