The Coral Coast Hotel Association in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and Board of Sigatoka District Hospital have announced their intentions to build a new maternity ward at the Sigatoka District Hospital. I am pleased to announce Tappoo Groups initial contribution of $12,000 to kick start this project and their launch of charity drive via a Golf Tournament soon.
Here I would also like to acknowledge the presence of the President of Coral Coast Hotel Association, Mr. Peter Hopgood. May I request Peter to accept this little contribution from our Group.
Ladies and gentlemen, we also have been collecting donations through charity boxes in our tourist oriented stores for the Save the Children Fund and together with our top up, like last year, I am again delighted to hand over a cheque of $10k to the representative of the fund, Mr. Deo Raj Raju.
In 2006 ladies and gentlemen on the 65th anniversary of the company, we had established
Tappoo Charitable Trust and over the years we have contributed both in cash and kind towards various individuals, groups and charities supporting school projects, community halls, water projects, medical care to name a few. Most of these contributions the family had preferred to keep anonymous.
Finally I would also like to add my sincere thanks to our Chief Guest Hon. Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, his wife Mrs Ela Sayed-Khaiyum, our guests from overseas and all of you most sincerely for finding the time to celebrate this moment with us.
God Bless and Good Night.

CORAL COAST CHAIRMAN OF FHTA APPLAUDS THE GENEROSITY OF THE TAPPOO GROUP OF COMPANIES!Peter Hopgood, the Chairman of the Coral Coast Chapter of the Fiji Hotels Association applauded the generous support from the Tappoo group of companies for their donation of $12,000 to the Sigatoka District Hospital Maternity Ward fund.
Hopgood stated that it was vitally important that business houses, such as Tappoo as well as the resorts on the Coral Coast, plus all members of the local community get behind the challenge of raising funds for the new maternity ward.
Sigatoka is the home of Tappoo and we are delighted that they are able to assist us in raising capital for this much needed community facility.
Over 600 babies are born every year at the Sigatoka Hospital and unfortunately the hospital can not cope with these numbers.
The Sigatoka District Hospital Board in conjunction with the Health Ministry and with the support of the Coral Coast hoteliers are working with the local community to raise funds for this development.
Plans for the new maternity ward have been submitted to the health ministry.
The total cost of the new maternity ward is expected to be $1.5 million dollars.
