Group president Daniel Kim defined Patisserie Pacifica as a dessert café that is determined to give Fiji’s wider public the taste of premier pastries.

“As South Korean-Fijians, we realize that Fiji’s people are deserving of a bigger variety of food,” he said.

“Our cakes and pastries are very unique and are created with the people of Fiji in mind.”

Patisserie Pacifica is Grace Road Group’s fourth food outlet to open at a Tappoo establishment.

“We’re thrilled that the Grace Road Group chooses to grow at our Tappoo locations, especially because of the value they place on quality of service and in the unique products that they offer,” said Tappoo Group director Mahendra Tappoo.” Their food outlets are of very high international standards and in keeping with the high standards of our shopping malls.”

Mr. Kim said their respect for the Tappoo Group was mutual.

“Tappoo is our strategic partner in our food businesses because their motto, their ideas and their values are the same as ours,” he said.

“And that is that we serve the customer well and in doing so we serve the nation.”

He said Tappoo’s high hygienic standards and their “good locations throughout Fiji” were also key foundations for the partnership.

Like its other food ventures, which includes the popular Snowy House and the Noodle Story, their pastries and specialty cakes are intricately created from fresh, healthy produce that are all grown at their farms.

For instance, a significant difference is the use of pure virgin coconut oil instead of butter in all of Patisserie Pacifica’s goodies.

Mr. Kim said locals were employed in the operations to provide the coconuts.

“We are promoting Fiji in all aspects – from the food to the décor and design of our shops,” he explained.

He said the idea of opening a specialized pastry shop had been in the pipeline for more than a year. He said his team worked on the concept of the brand, the shop design, crafting the specialty offerings for about a year before acquiring the necessary equipment.

“Our passion is always create a new venture and to serve our nation, our people with a different variety of healthy food.”

Mr. Kim estimated that the equipment, including the shop fittings, cost the company about $500,000.

“We are truly proud of this five-star shopping mall that we have created for the people of Lautoka and the western division”, said Mr. Tappoo. “We are extremely happy with the very positive response from the people from throughout the division. This is the western division’s first shopping mall and people are just loving it. State of the art cinemas, an international food court with a variety of cuisines on offer, department stores, supermarkets, specialty stores, hair & beauty salon, pharmacy, children’s play center & so much more. A complete shopping, food, fun, and entertainment destination for locals and tourists alike. This is what TappooCity is all about”, said Mr. Tappoo.
