Neither the Government nor the private sector can move a nation forward alone, says the Prime Minister.
Stakeholders, private sectors and business leaders were again reminded about the importance of collaboration in order to progress.
During the Prime Minister’s International Business Awards at the Grand Pacific Hotel on Saturday night, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said: “We need to work side by side, sharing ideas and inspiring each other.
“Together, we will transform Fiji into more than just a shining example for the Pacific – we will become a nation that every global citizen will look to as a champion on critical issues and an example of sustainable development,” he said.
Mr Bainimarama said the awards night was not only to acknowledge the contribution of our exporters in nation building, but also to celebrate their success with special and well-deserved recognition in putting Fijian Made products and services in markets around the world.
“We will honor those businesses that, like Fiji itself, have punched above their weight. We recognize those businesses that have been truly innovative, and that have produced a quality of product or service that has made our nation proud.
“We will honor those that dared to push the limits and those that have embraced sustainability and inclusivity in their businesses,” said Mr Bainimarama.
With the theme ‘Achieving Sustainable Economic Growth.
Investment Fiji chief executive officer Godo Mueller-Tuet said sustainable development is about integrating all present day needs with the needs of society, the environment and global citizenship in a way that doesn’t compromise future generations.
He said Saturday’s event celebrates Fijian business success by providing an opportunity to benchmark performance, build capacity, inspire to innovate, showcase service excellence, support job creation and boost employee morale.
“We each have a role to play in growing our economy, to create employment opportunities and improve social and community well-being.”
He said the strength of the nation is measured by the strength of its business community which is determined by individual entrepreneurs and corporations.
“And Fiji has a long proud history of producing entrepreneurs who make things happen.”
Over 200 business people attended the awards night. There were 12 awards presented to the successful business that has contributed to growth of Fiji’s economy.
Tappoo Group of Companies scooped the Supreme Award of the Year.
