Tappoo marked its third year of sponsorship for Fiji Rugby with the successful completion of the provincial rugby competition, the Sanyo Cup.

After Nadroga took out the title at Prince Charles park in Nadi on Saturday, Tappoo CEO Mr Madhu Tappoo complimented the Fiji Rugby Union for holding the most successful provincial cup competition to date.

“We at Tappoo like to believe that we have given Fiji a boost in their World Cup bid by sponsoring the Sanyo Cup,” Mr Tappoo said during the closing ceremony of the finals between Nadi and Nadroga.

Tappoo sponsors FRU to a tune of a million dollars a year through various brands like Nike, KooGa and Sanyo.

The $300,000 Sanyo sponsorship was voted a great success as thousands thronged to see the strong final between Nadi and Nadroga, with weekly competitions garnering the best crowds in years.

“We are absolutely determined to ensure that the whole country benefits from the Tappoo sponsorship of Fiji rugby,” Tappoo said as he pointed out the commitment the Tappoo Group had to the sport and to the nation.

“We believe rugby is a brilliant way to capture the power of unity and togetherness across the country,” he said.

He pointed out that the sport had a way of bringing together people in unity, in pride and in patriotism unlike anything else in the country.

Tappoo Corporate Ambassador, Waisale Serevi, is the coach/player in the world champion sevens side.
