Mrs Mata, who has lived at Nadonumai Settlement in Lami with her husband and four children, won the Vodafone txt and win promotion that was run in conjunction with the Tappoo Group of Companies and Kia Motors.
“I did not know what to think when Vodafone representatives called me this morning to tell me to come to Suva,” she told the Fiji Times after the presentation.
“I thought I was going to receive a gift or some cash but a niece hinted earlier that it could be a car.
“This is the perfect present for my youngest son, who is playing for Ratu Kadavulevu School in the Deans competition this Saturday. We had always wanted a car but could not afford it.”
The Nasama, Nadroga native said her husband, Staff Sergeant Sitiveni Mata, bought her a new phone and took part in the promotion.
“I don’t know how much he used but I thank him and the Vodafone staff for making this day memorable for me and my family,” Mrs Mata said.
There are no plans yet for the car but Mrs Mata said the family would have to first discuss what they will do with it.
Vodafone’s chief marketing officer Raj Reddy said the mobile phone network operator and Tappoo did not want to ruin the surprise and did not tell Mrs Mata of her win until she turned up at the TappooCity complex.
